Long Description:
A modernization of the HVAC system is required due to the existing systems inability to provide adequate indoor air quality and temperature control. The newly designed system will feature a new roof mounted condensing heat pump unit for each of the floors. Four air handlers, rated at 5250 cfm each, will be located one to a floor. There will be a new VAV terminal box for each of the 9 zones on each floor, for a total of 36 zones building wide. The introduction of outside air will be controllable for proper indoor air quality. An economizer will utilize outside air for cooling when thermodynamic properties permit. Individual roof top fans will be utilized for outside air supply and relief air venting. Approximately 60 tons of cooling capacity will be installed. During the heating season, when auxiliary heating might be required, 80KW of electrical heat elements are available as a supplement. The outside air and relief air ductwork risers will be newly installed. The supply ductwork will be reused and the return air plenum design will not change.
