Long Description:
Memorial Hall, constructed in 1931, is the largest auditorium on the campus, with a seating capacity of 1500. This facility is used extensively for student assemblies and performances, lectures, concerts, and traveling theatrical productions. Over the past years, a significant amount of repair work has been done to this building to upgrade the electrical system and repair the roof; however, a major improvement to the facility is required if the University is to realize full use of this facility. The current Bond-funded project calls for the demolition of the existing stage house and additions to expand the stage house and public facilities. The expanded stage house will provide a larger stage with wing space and updated stage equipment and lighting, dressing rooms, a loading dock and rehearsal space. This project will address ADA deficiencies, expand patron spaces, provide elevator service, and update all building systems. The building is not currently air-conditioned and a new HVAC system will permit year-round use of this facility.
During the final phase of the above-mentioned project, a number of items were identified that were required, but the budget did not allow for their consideration. This project supplements the original budget to provide for the additional project requirements.
